San Diego – a city that has made numerous headlines due to financial woes and related mayoral scandals – swore in Mayor Jerry Sanders on December 5, 2005. The ceremony was shown via live webcast*.

The swearing-in of the new mayor is particularly significant because of recent leadership issues the city has experienced, including the August resignation of Mayor Herring. Since then, an interim mayor has overseen city operations.

The City of San Diego does its citizens and other interested parties a great service by providing live web broadcasts of committee and City Council meetings – as well as special events like Mayor Sanders’ swearing-in ceremony – on its web site.
